Zonte’s Footstep ‘Chocolate Factory’ McLaren Vale Shiraz 2013

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 09-Jun-2015
Saturated black-hued purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is softly full with densely packed aromas of sweetly ripe, aromatic black berry and black plum fruit at the core, unfolding waves of black pepper, spices, chocolate, with fragrant black florals entwined with cedary oak. Full-bodied, the palate features sweetly rich and lusciously juicy flavours of ripe black berry and plum fruit melded with layers of liquorice, chocolate, oak vanilla, spices and cedar. The fruit succulence is balanced by substantial extraction, the tannins fine-grained and powdery, providing the framework to carry the wine to a very long, textured finish of black fruits and sweet chocolate nuances. This is a rich, lush, sweetly ripe Shiraz with significant fine-grained structure, and layers of cedar and spices. Match with slow-cooked game meat over the next 8-10 years. Named after the juicy milk chocolate character of McLaren Vale Shiraz. 100% McLaren Vale Shiraz from the Blewett Springs sub-region, fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in new and seasoned oak hogsheads. 18.5+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $24.99
