Zolo Reserve Malbec 2018, Argentina

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 30-May-2022
Deep, full, dark ruby-red, slightly lighter edged. The nose is full and fragrant, packed with violet, blackberry, mulberry and sweet vanilla. Full-bodied, lively and juicy flavours of blackberry and mulberry are melded with dark herb, violet and sweet vanilla. The mouthfeel features vibrant and sweet fruit underlined by natural, ripe, fine-grained tannin that builds to provide dryness and grip. Underlying lacy, balanced acidity lends energy and flows to an elegant, balanced finish of sweet black fruit and herbaceous details. This is an elegant, juicy Malbec alongside herb and vanilla notes on a light, structured palate. Match with tapas and barbeque skewers over the next 3 years. 100% Malbec from Estate vineyards in Agrelo and Alto Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Handpicked, cold-soaked for 5 days in tanks, fermented to 14% alc, over 15 days, then rested on the lees for 16 days, aged 12-14 months in first and second use oak barrels. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) May 2022 RRP $28
