Zephyr Marlborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Apr-2013
Fruit from the Southern Valleys from vines planted in 2000, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 20% new French oak. Full, even, moderately dark ruby-red colour. This has a full nose with gentle waves of bright and fresh dark red berry fruits intermingling with lifted red florals and subtle herbal elements. Medium-full bodied, the flavours are initially reticent, but unfold and grow to show ripe, dark-red berry flavours and spicy oak detail. The flavours fill the mouth and are enlivened by bright, lacy acidity, with fine-grained tannins building, resulting in a fulsome mouthfeel. This features richness and fruitiness and the palate leads to a solid but rounded finish with lingering spicy oak and red fruit flavours. This is a fulsome Pinot Noir with good mouthfeel and flavours that grow. Match with roasted red meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. 17.5/20 Apr 2013 RRP $28.99
