Zephyr Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 30-Apr-2014
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on edge. The bouquet is intense and deep with clear and fresh aromas of rose-petal florals, herbs and musk, along with honeysuckle and mineral nuances. Off-dry to taste, the palate features concentrated and rounded flavours of rose-petals infused with ginger, and spicy musk. The fruit is fresh and enlivened by good acidity, and flows smoothly, the mouthfeel showing fine phenolics. This has plenty of underlying power with the alcohol adding to the weight and warmth on the palate, and carries the flavours to a long finish. This is a concentrated and driven Gewurztraminer with rounded textures and flavours of exotic florals and ginger. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine, and with semi-hard cheeses over the next 4+ years. Fruit from Dillons Point from vines planted in 1993, fermented to 14.5% alc. and 6 g/L RS. 18.0+/20 Apr 2014 RRP $25.00
