Yealands Estate ‘Single Vineyard’ Awatere Valley Marlborough Riesling 2016

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-Oct-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, paler edged. The nose is soft and light with a rounded core of lime fruit entwined with white florals and nuances of honey and minerals. The aromatics are reserved in expression. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate is softly concentrated with an underlying taut line of lime fruit intermingling with white florals and mouthwatering mineral notes, unfolding hints of honey. The flavours are gentle in expression with a fine-textured, dry mouthfeel and balanced, thirst-quenching acidity. The wine carries to a light, dry finish of limes and minerals. This is a soft, fine-featured dry Riesling with shy flavours of limes, white florals and minerals on a taut, mouthwatering palate. Serve as an aperitif, with seafood and fine Asian fare over the next 5 years. Fruit from the flat, sheltered ‘D2E’ and coastal ‘L6E’ blocks on the ‘Seaview’ vineyard, hand-picked, WBP, and fermented in seasoned French oak barriques to 12.0% alc. and 6.1 g/L RS, TA 9.0g/L and pH 3.02, the wine aged on lees with batonnage. 17.0-/20 Oct 2013 RRP $21.95
