Yealands Estate ‘Single Vineyard’ Awatere Valley Marlborough Gruner Veltliner 2012

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Feb-2013
Two picks of fruit from the ‘Seaview' vineyard, WBP and cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 3 g/L rs, the wine undergoing batonnage. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with faint golden hues, pale on rim. This has a fresh, fine nose of white pepper, fennel and herbs along with lifted esters and aromatics. Dry to taste, tightly bound, subtle flavours of herbs, white pepper and tropical fruits form an elegant and finely textured core. The fruit is lifted and enlivened by bright, mouthwatering acidity which carries the flavours to a very long and sustained, racy finish with aromatic fruit notes. This is a tightly bound, aromatic Gruner Veltliner with concentration and lively acidity. Serve with antipasto, seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. 17.5-/20 Feb 2013 RRP $21.95
