Yealands Estate ‘Single Vineyard’ Awatere Marlborough Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-May-2011
Moderately deep ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a restrained, undeveloped bouquet of soft red berry and cherry fruits, showing some floral fragrance, along with a cool, herbal edge. Very tightly bound on palate, the fruit shows raspberry and cherry liqueur notes with subtle herb and stalk elements. The tannin extraction is very fine, and the suppleness of texture with acidity endows the wine with balance. Attractive, subtle oak spice shows on the sustained finish. Fruit from one block in the ‘Seaview' vineyard in the Awatere given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., 60% of the wine aged in French oak, some new. This should put on more weight and richness over the next 4-6 years. 16.5/20 Mat 2011 RRP $29.90
