Yealands Estate ‘Single Vineyard’ Awatere Marlborough Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-May-2011
Full, bright straw-yellow colour with hues of gold, this has a full and intense nose of ripe yellow stonefruits and apricots with notes of tropical fruits. Off-dry to taste, this has a full, densely concentrated palate of ripe yellow stonefruits and pears, with hints of smoke, spice and nuts from lees work. Soft textured and forward, this has a sweetness of fruit that is enhanced by some alcohol warmth. The acidity is soft, and the lusciousness is the feature of this wine. Made from fruit from ‘Donnellys Block' in the ‘Seaview' vineyard in the Awatere, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 3.5 g/L rs, the wine kept on lees for 3 months. Match with poultry and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-5 years. 18.0+/20 May 2011 RRP $24.90
