Yealands Estate ‘Single Block”S1′ Awatere Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Feb-2013
From the ‘S1' block, one of the highest in the ‘Seaview' vineyard on loess, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 2 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees 3 months with batonnage. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with depth, pale on edge. The nose is tightly bound with a youthfully brash and bracing bouquet of blackcurrant leaf, fresh herbs and a penetrating passionfruit and wet stone lees element. Dry to taste, full, rounded and lusciously juicy flavours of passionfruit, gooseberries, currants and herbs form a smooth-textured, near unctuous mouthfeel and deep core to the palate. The acidity is restrained adding to the smooth, soft flow and integration. The flavours are carried to a long and sustained, softly rich finish. Youthful and fresh on the nose, the Sauvignon Blanc is lush, juicy and smooth with a soft balance. Serve with most seafood and poultry dishes over the next 2 years. 19.0-/20 Feb 2013 RRP $24.95
