Yalumba ‘Y Series’ South Australia Tempranillo 2013

Tempranillo from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 26-May-2016
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with slight black hues, a little lighter on the rim. This has a slender and tightly bound bouquet with savoury red cherry and berry fruit along with light earthy, herbal and nutty notes. The aromatics have a steely cut to the expression. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegant and tight in presentation, the flavours of red cherries, earth and nutty elements somewhat reserved in expression. The mouthfeel is moderately sweet and lush, and shows moderate weight and presence, with light tannin extraction carrying the wine to a light finish with red fruit nuances. This is a slender Tempranillo with restrained red cherry fruit flavours and light, supple tannins. Serve with tapas, antipasto and Mediterranean fare over the next 2-3 years. South Australian fruit fermented to 13.5% alc. Winemaker: Sam Wigan. 16.0/20 May 2016 RRP $14.95
