Yalumba ‘Y Series’ South Australia Shiraz/Viognier 2014

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 26-May-2016
Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with some purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is firm and taut with aromas of ripe black-berried fruits along with notes of spices, black pepper and minerals, unfolding lifted violet florals with aeration. Medium-bodied, bright, lively and up-front fruit flavours of blackberries and black pepper are enhanced by subtle spice, floral and mineral elements. The fruit is underlined by light, but firm, grainy tannins providing fine structure, and the mouthfeel enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. A little alcohol power carries the wine to an elegent, sustained finish of black fruits and spices. This is a bright, up-front and vibrant black-fruited Shiraz/Viognier with spice and floral notes and a grainy line. Match with poultry and pork, and Asian fare over the next 3+ years. South Australian Shiraz and Viognier, with whole berry fermentation to 13.5% alc. Winemaker: Andrew La Nauze. 17.0/0 May 2016 RRP $14.95
