Yalumba ‘Y Series’ South Australia Shiraz 2016

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 30-Apr-2017
Very full, even, black-hued purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is a little restrained in expression, but shows good depth and vinous presence, unfolding aromas of ripe blackberry fruit with dark herbs and black pepper. Some red liquorice and spice emerges in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and sweet flavours of blackberries and dark-red berry fruits, intermixed with black pepper, herb and spice detail. The fruit is a little restrained in expression, but the mouthfeel has good presence, with light, grainy tannins providing texture, balanced by fresh acidity. The wine carries to a light, nuanced finish. This is a rich and juicy black-fruited Shiraz showing some restraint, but good mouthfeel, texture and presence. Serve with barbecued fare and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3 years. South Australian fruit fermented to 13.5% alc. Winemaker: Andrew La Nauze. 16.5+/20 May 2017 RRP $16.95
