Yalumba ‘Y Series’ South Australia Shiraz 2015

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 23-Nov-2016
Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with black-purple hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is firmly concentrated with deep, ripe aromas of blackberries and dark raspberries, along with notes of eucalyptus, and black and white pepper. Full-bodied, the palate features sweetly ripe, up-front flavours of dark raspberries and boysenberry fruit entwined with notes of jam and eucalyptus and some black pepper elements. The fruit sweetness is carried by fine-grained tannin extraction and structure, and the mouthfeel shows background acid freshness. This has drive, concentration and line, and leads to a long, sustained finish of black fruits and eucalyptus. This is a sweetly ripe, raspberry and black-fruited Shiraz with eucalypt notes on a fine-grained structure with good linearity. Match with barbecued red meats over the next 3 years. South Australian fruit warm-fermented in static and rotary fermenters to 14.5% alc. Winemaker Andrew La Nauze. 17.0/20 Nov 2016 RRP 16.95
