Yalumba ‘Y Series’ South Australia Merlot 2016

Merlot from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 30-Apr-2017
Very dark, black-red colour with lighter purple-ruby hues on the rim. The nose is elegantly concentrated and well-packed with aromas of ripe blackberry fruit entwined with blackcurrant and redcurrant notes, along with black plums, revealing an aromatic floral and dark herb amalgam. Medium-full bodied, the palate has moderately rich fruit flavours of ripe dark plum and dark-red berry fruits, along with notes of florals and herbs. The fruit is juicy and succulent, and enlivened by refreshing, integrated acidity. The palate flows along a balancing, fine-textured, grainy line, leading to a dry, clear, black-fruited finish. This is a bright, juicy and succulent blackberry and plum fruited Merlot with light grainy tannins and a fresh mouthfeel. Match with lamb, beef and barbecued fare over the next 3 years. South Australia fruit indigenous yeast fermented to 14.1% alc. Winemaker: Natalie Cleghorn. 17.0/20 May 2017 RRP $16.95
