Yalumba ‘Y Series’ South Australia Merlot 2015

Merlot from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 23-Nov-2016
Dark ruby-red colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. This has a fresh, elegantly proportioned nose with finely concentrated aromas of redcurrants and blackcurrant leaf, mint and fresh, dark herbs. The aromatics are bright and vibrant. Medium-bodied, the palate shows a concentrated core of redcurrants, blackcurrant leaf and fresh herbs. The fruit is underlined by light, grainy tannin extraction, and the mouthfeel is lively and zesty from the crisp and racy acidity. The curranty and herbal flavours are carried by the acidity to a lingering, brisk finish. This is a fresh and lively Merlot with currant, leafy and herbal flavours on a grainy and brisk palate. Serve with tapas and herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 3 years. South Australian fruit warm-fermented in static and rotary fermenters to 13.5% alc. 16.5-/20 Nov 2016 RRP 16.95
