Yalumba ‘Triangle Block’ Eden Valley Shiraz/Viognier 2013

Blended Red from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 30-Apr-2017
Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is refined with intense and firmly concentrated aromas of ripe blackberries along with lifted dark-red and violet florals, and subtle notes of toasty oak and black mineral elements suggesting reductive complexities. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly concentrated with deep flavours of black berried fruits along with spice notes, and dark-red and violet florals. Notes of toasty oak add detail. The fruit is rich and is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity, and supported by fine-grained tannin extraction. This has good drive and linearity, and the wine carries to a lingering, spicy, toasty finish. This is n elegantly concentrated Shiraz/Viognier with black fruit, spice and floral notes along with toasty oak, on a fine-grained, linear palate. Serve with Middle Eastern fare and game meat dishes over the next 6-7+ years. Eden Valley fruit, with the a portion of the Shiraz fruit fermented with a small percentage of Viognier grapes, and a portion fermented with Viognier juice, to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 month in 15% new French and Hungarian oak hogsheads. Named as a tribute to Yalumba’s oldest surviving centennial Shiraz vineyard, dating to 1849. 18.0-/20 May 2017 RRP $25.50
