Yalumba ‘The Strapper’ Barossa Valley Grenache/Shiraz/Mataro 2015

Blended Red from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 25-Mar-2018
Even, dark ruby-red colour with a lighter edge. The nose is gently full with an ethereal array of aromas with dark raspberry fruit, liquorice and spices forming a core revealing dark herbs and earthy detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate has an elegantly concentrated and refined core with flavours of dark raspberries entwined with spices, dark herbs and earthy notes, unfolding dark-red florals and liquorice. The fruit forms a firm heart and the palate has good linearity, and the wine flows smoothly with very fine textures and balanced acidity. The wine carries to a long and sustained finish of raspberries and spices. This is an elegantly concentrated, fine and firm hearted GSM with aromatic raspberry fruit with spice and liquorice interest on a fine-textured palate. Match with Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. Barossa Valley fruit, a blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro, fermented to 13.5% alc., 12% of the wine aged 12 months in new French oak hogsheads, the remainder in seasoned French, Hungarian and American oak. 17.5/20 Mar 2018 RRP $24.95
