Yalumba Paradox Shiraz 2018, Barossa

Shiraz from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 23-Mar-2022
Full, deep ruby-black, slightly slighter edged, youthful appearance. The bouquet is rich and enticing, packed with aromas of dark plums, blackberries, entwined with violet and spice, along with smoky bacon and earth elements. Full-bodied, the concentrated palate possesses a savoury line, displaying ripe plums, blackberries and violets, unfolding star anise, black pepper, meaty, smoky bacon nuance melded with earth's richness. Supple and soft tannins finely coated the palate, layered the concentration of fruit, supportive acidity lends a long, savoury finish. This is a characterful Shiraz with concentrated fruit, violets, meaty and earthy aromas on a velvety mouthfeel. Match with roasted lamb and beef short ribs over the next 10+ years. Wild fermented to 14% alc, matured for 15 months in French oak puncheons 8% new, balance one year and older barrels. Vegan friendly. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Mar 2022 RRP $38
