Yalumba ‘Hand-Picked’ Barossa T.G.V. 2006

Blended Red from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 29-Jun-2012
Barossa fruit, 89% Tempranillo, 6% Grenache and 5% Viognier, aged 10 months in French and Hungarian oak. Very full, dark, deep, black-red, still youthful in appearance. The bouquet is soft and smoothly presented, showing attractive integration of raspberryish fruit along with aromas of prune, spices and pepper, well-packed, a little on the shy overall. Some signs of ‘dead fruit'? On palate quite solid and dense, with sweet, fully-ripened black fruits and prunes. This is soft and rounded, the acidity lowish, but with balanced tannin grip. The fruit is reserved through the palate and leads to a dry finish, the fruit sweetness emerging. Seeming a little over-ripe, but with sweet fruit underneath, this shows the Tempranillo fruitiness. Enjoy over 4-6+ years. 17.5+/20  Jun 2012
