Yalumba ‘Hand Picked’ Barossa Shiraz/Viognier 2008

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 27-Jul-2011
Eden Valley fruit, co-fermentation including a portion with Viognier skins, to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 19 months in French and Hungarian oak, 37% new. Very full, deep, purple-hued, ruby–red colour, this has a full, voluminous nose, still a little held back, but showing concentrated aromas of ripe black berry fruits lifted with layers of boysenberry-like fruit, black spices and oak. Full-bodied and richly expressed, this has plump but densely packed black plum, dark raspberry and liquorice flavours, lifted by spices and floral elements. The palate has fine, firm tannin structure and fresh acidity to balance the fruit richness, and the completeness of the wine should see it age 6-8+ years easily. Match with flavoursome and hearty game meat. 18.5+/20 Jul 2011 RRP $42.00
