Yalumba Eden Valley Shiraz/Viognier 2008

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 27-Jul-2011
Bright, deep, purple-ruby colour, youthful in appearance. This has an elegant and somewhat tightly bound nose, redolent of spicy black fruits, lifted by white pepper and fragrant jasmine floral aromas along with some black liquorice. Medium-full bodied, this has a concentrated, rich, dense and luscious impact of vibrant and lively spicy black berry fruit and plums. The palate has a concentrated core, but already shows succulence and sweetness, this enlivened by fresh acidity. Supple tannins provide good line and lead to a more subtle, but juicy fruited finish with attractive spicy nuances. Match with Mediterranean or Asian poultry, pork or lamb dishes over the next 4-5+ years. Eden Valley Shiraz fruit co-fermented with 3% Viognier, either as grapes or juice to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in mainly French and Hungarian oak, 13% new. 18.5-/20 Jul 2011 RRP $25.00
