Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and up-front with fragrant aromas of ripe blackberries and boysenberry fruit along with an aromatic lift, unfolding a little eucalyptus and spice with black pepper nuances. The nose is very approachable. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rich, sweet and juicy with lush flavours of ripe blackberries and boysenberries, a little eucalyptus and lifted fruits. The mouthfeel is bright and lively and the fruit is supported by light, supple tannin structure, providing a fine line. Underlying acidity lends some energy, and the wine carries to a sweet, elegant finish. This is a sweet-fruited, juicy Shiraz with blackberry and boysenberry fruit, notes of eucalypt and jam with fragrance, on a supple, fine-grained palate. Serve with Middle Easter lamb dishes over the next 3-4 years. A blend of 98% Shiraz and 2% Viognier, predominantly from the ‘Boodjudup’ vineyard in Margaret River with a small portion from Frankland, co-fermented with whole berries to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 25% new French oak barriques. 17.5/20 Oct 2018 RRP $28.00
