Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. The bouquet is softly full and a little reserved in expression, showing savoury, ripe blackberry, raspberry and plum fruit aromas, along with subtle secondary earthy and game notes, and nuances of minerally reduction. Medium-full bodied, the palate is soft with gently luscious and rich flavours of savoury blackberry and dark raspberry fruit along with savoury plum secondary elements. The fruit is underlined by grainy tannin extraction providing a dry, firm-textured core. The acidity is integrated, and the wine flows easily to a moderately long finish of savoury raspberry, plum and earthy flavours. This is a gently luscious, savoury blackberry and raspberry fruited Shiraz with grainy tannin grip. Match with casseroles and slow-cooked meats over the next 4-5 years. 99% Shiraz and 1% Viognier from the southern Margaret River, Wallcliffe and Karridale, destemmed and fermented with whole berries to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 25% new French oak barriques. 16.5+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $29.99
