Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter edged. This has a very fresh, tightly bound nose with youthful primary fruit aromas f blackcurrants and blackberries, with fresh herbs and cooler-spectrum stalk nuances. This has aromatic intensity and penetration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is tightly bound and finely concentrated with sweet blackcurrant fruit flavours forming a succulent core. Cassis, blackberry, mint herbs and subtle stalk notes unfold from the palate heart. The fruit is underlined by fine-grained tannin extraction lending a firm line, and bright, lacy acidity provides vibrancy and vitality. The wine carries to an elegant, fresh, lingering finish. This is a fresh, bright and lively Cabernet Sauvignon with blackcurrant and blackberry flavours with some cooler-spectrum notes and a firm palate. Match with herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 5-6+ years. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with small portions of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot, from the Wallcliffe district, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 20% new French oak barriques. 17.0/20 Aug 2016 RRP $29.99
