Wynns ‘Michael’ Coonawarra Shiraz 2008

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 11-Aug-2011
Very dark, deep, near impenetrable purple-red colour, this is a little muted on bouquet initially, but the densely packed bouquet of ripe black berry fruits, plum, black pepper and earth unfold in glass, revealing violet perfumes and oak spices. Full-bodied, the flavours of black and dark red berry fruits, pepper and florals are tight and intensely concentrated. Fine-grained, serious and firm tannins and excellent crisp acidity will ensure tension and brightness and the layers of flavour develop and become revealed over the next 15+ years. A complete wine of potential . 14.5% alc., the wine was aged 14 month in French oak, 60% new.  Aug 2011
