Wynns ‘John Riddoch’ Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 20-Aug-2012
Made from the top 1% of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit available to Wynns, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 15 months in new and seasoned French oak barriques. Very dark, deep, near saturated ruby-red colour. The nose is refined in its power, but brooding at present, the aromatics somewhat locked-up and restrained. There is real depth of ripe black fruits, chocolate and mint with cassis and essence, along with oak cedar. Full-bodied, the palate is powerfully presented with weight and powerful drive. The flavours of ripe black berry fruits and spicy cedary oak unfold slowly in waves, with the depth and concentrated core promising much more. This has very fine-textured tannins that build to complete the densely packed, rounded palate. The acidity is discreet and supportive. This needs 10-15 years to fully develop. 19.0/20 Aug 2012 RRP $99.99
