Wynns ‘John Riddoch’ Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 11-Aug-2011
Very full, near saturated black-red colour with youthful purple hues, this has a tightly bound, but very intense and concentrated nose of blackcurrants, dark plums, beautifully lifted dark-red floral perfumes and dark chocolate. This has a stylishness despite its power and depth. A full-bodied wine, this retains an elegance to match the drive. Concentrated flavours of classical, ripe blackcurrants and cassis liqueur exemplify varietal character. Oaking is well-matched to the fruit. This has considerable, fine-grained extraction with excellent line and length. Good acid tension and fruit nuances lift the sustained finish. This combines beauty, varietal clarity and finesse. Drink over the next 15+ years. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine was aged 22 months in 53% new French oak.  Aug 2011
