Wynns Coonawarra Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot 2009

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 11-Aug-2011
A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Shiraz and 6% Merlot, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged18 months in French and American oak approx.. 10% new. Very deep, nearly impenetrable black-hued red with purple, this has an elegant and rather restrained nose, distinctly blackcurranty, showing Cabernet Sauvignon varietal aromatics, with a little leaf, mint and herb. Medium-full bodied, this is quite tight and densely concentrated, with good, ripe, blackcurrant fruit flavours. The palate has firm tannins and fresh acidity lending a sternness to the mouthfeel. However, there is good balance and an interweaving of the componentry that will see this develop and soften over the next 5-7+ years. Aug 2011
