The 54th release of this label, representing the top 20-25% of the fruit available to Wynns. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines 35 y.o. average, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 15 months in new and seasoned French and American oak barriques. Dark ruby-red with some garnet hues. This has a softly voluminous bouquet of very finely expressed, ripe blackcurrant fruit with a deep core that gently opens revealing hints of earth and oak. Medium-full bodied, this is a soft-textured, harmonious wine with rich, gentle mouthfilling flavours of blackcurrant and black fruits. The acidity is quite discreet and the tannins very fine-grained, resulting in a soft breadth and palate flow. This is a classical, softly reserved Cabernet Sauvignon that will evolve over the next 6-9 years. 18.0+/20 Aug 2012 RRP $39.99 Impenetrable black-red colour, this is a little shy on nose, showing gentle and soft earthy-brambly blackcurrant fruit aromatics along with hints of oak cedar. Medium-full bodied, this is softly full with matty, blackcurrant flavours allied to mint, herbs, earth and oak cedar. The palate has a grainy tannin openness that provides a fulsome mouthfeel. Soft acidity enhances succulence and accessibility.
