Wynns ‘Black Label’ Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 11-Aug-2011
Dark, deep, mahogany-red colour, full with brick edge. This has a full and soft, voluminous nose of ripe, cooked red fruits with savoury, earth and mushroom aromas, along with complex dried herb and brown spice notes. The wine is fully mature, with savoury game, earth and cedar flavours and cherry-chocolate notes. Soft, mouthfilling and open on palate, there is still good acidity for tension, and some drying tannins. Though showing fruit sweetness, the flavours are autumnal and show the beginnings of complexing nuances of decay. Drink up over the next 2-3+ years. 13.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in new and seasoned French and American oak.  Aug 2011
