Wynns ‘Black Label’ Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 1991

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 30-Aug-2012
Very dark, deep, black-red colour, still youthful in appearance. This is beautifully fine and elegant with intense and pure blackcurrant Cabernet Sauvignon fruit aromas, quite classical in expression. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, refined Cabernet Sauvignon cassis flavours show with building richness. This is still quite primary, with little evidence of secondary characters. The oaking is nigh-on perfect, and fine-grained tannins support the palate flow. Fresh, lacy acidity complements the fruit and grip, and the flavours are long, lingering and nuanced in detail. Archetype Cabernet Sauvignon and still with a decade plus and more ahead. 1991 is seen as a "standout year…more Bordeaux in style…seamless” by Wynns. The favourite wine for the tasters. 19.0+/20 Aug 2012
