Wynns ‘Black Label’ Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 1973

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 30-Aug-2012
Full garnet-red colour with some bricking on rim. The bouquet is full and openly expressed and accessible, showing complex secondary game aromas and waves of savoury dried herb and currant notes. An elegant, medium-bodied wine, this is quite delicate and a touch faded with blackcurrant and stalky fruit flavours. Though some fruit sweetness shows, there is considerable acidity, resulting in good line and length. In essence this lacks a little generosity, but there is varietal fruit with underlying tannin texture. A leanish style for me, but one of the more preferred wines for the other tasters due to its structure. Regarded now by Wynns as "not particularly deep, but still appealing”. 17.5+/20 Aug 2012
