Wycroft Wairarapa Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 25-Apr-2011
This is the premium wine of Lawrie Bryant's Wycroft label. Made from hand-picked fruit that was hand-sorted before full destemming. Clones 114, 115, 667, 777, Abel and 5 were used. Fermented to 14.0% alc at the Urlar winery in Gladstone, the wine then matured 10 months in 30% new French oak. This has a bright, moderately deep ruby red colour with youthful purple hues. Elegant on nose and quite ethereal style, this has excellent depth of perfumed red flowers and aromas of dark red berry fruits. On palate, this has concentration, richness and intensity of fruit, deliciously sweet. This is underpinned by significant, but refined tannins. A wine of good ripeness, balance and beauty by way of its elegant structure. This will keep and drink well over the next 5-6 years. Only 70 cases made. 18.5/20 Nov 2010 RRP $48.30
