Wycroft ‘Forbury’ Wairarapa Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 10-Jun-2014
Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, lighter on rim. The nose is up-front with aromas of dark red berry and cherry fruits lifted with subtle savoury spice, herb and red floral notes. Medium-bodied, fresh and juicy dark red berry fruit flavours show with sweetness and clarity. The mouthfeel is enlivened by bright and lacy acidity and supported by fine-grained, gentle tannins. The palate has vitality, balance, primary freshness and a good linear core that leads to an elegant, lingering finish with sweet red fruits and oak with resinous hints. This is a fresh, elegant, sweet-fruited Pinot Noir with finely balanced structure. Serve with poultry, pork and hare over the next 4+ years. Clones 667, 777, 5 and Abel from the ‘Wycroft’ vineyard, destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine spending 16 days on skins and aged in French oak, 20% 1 y.o. 17.5/20 Jun 2014 RRP $29.00
