Made by Guy McMaster of Urlar winery in restaurant-friendly style, this has fruit from clones 114, 115, 667, 777, Abel and 5 totally destemmed and fermented to 13.5% alc. the resultant wine then aged 10 months in 30% new French oak barrels. Light, bright ruby red in colour, this has a fresh, but rather reticent bouquet on initial nosing. Delicate florals and red fruits emerge in the glass. On palate, this is an elegant, lively, red-fruited wine with excellent acidity providing a crisp edge to the mouthfeel. Fine-grained tannins mean good line and this will become more rounded and fuller over the next 3-4 years. A good wine to enjoy with Asian influenced poultry and pork dishes. 170 cases made. 17.0-/20 Nov 2010 RRP $29.75
