Wrights ‘Reserve’ Gisborne Gewurztraminer 2011

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 01-Oct-2013
Full, deep, golden–yellow colour. This has a very full, broad and even nose, voluminous and packed with complex and opulent aromas of ripe tropical fruits, root ginger, musk and rose-petals, melded with honey and creaming soda. Dry to taste and full-bodied, bold and brassy flavours of exotic tropical fruits, honey, musk and root ginger fill the mouth. The palate is soft and oily, near unctuous, the roundness enhanced by the low acidity. Alcoholic power drives the flavours which unfold waves of caramel, musk and herbs, and lead to a very long and sustained, dry finish with soft exotic fruit notes. This is a full, bold and brassy, dry Gewurztraminer with an unctuous mouthfeel. Serve with rich Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. Two picks of fruit, one stainless-steel fermented, the second with over 70% botrytis infection, soaked on skins, fermented to 13.5% alc. and aged 6 months in barrel, undergoing MLF. Certified AsureQuality Conversion organic. 18.0+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $38.00
