Wrights ‘Reserve’ Gisborne Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 08-Jun-2015
Moderately full, deep[ straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter on rim. This has a firm and well-concentrated nose with intense aromas of yellow stonefruits entwined with nutty barrel-ferment complexities and oxidative elements. The nose has depth with considerable power. Medium-full bodied, rich and layered flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits are melded with creamy, nutty barrel-ferment notes and complexing nutty, oxidative detail. The palate has depth and concentration, with underlying power. The fruit richness is balanced by fine acidity and a phenolic thread providing structure and line. The fresh acidity carries the wine to a long, nutty finish. This is a concentrated, flavoursome Chardonnay with rich stonefruit flavours and complex nutty, oxidative detail. Match with roast pork over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked fruit from old vines in the ‘Valley’ vineyard, Ormond, WBP, free-run juice only barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in new oak, with MLF. Certified AsureQuality organic. 18.0+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $38.00
