Woven Stone Ohau Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 22-Jan-2014
Bright, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour, lighter on edge. The bouquet is full, open and broad with yellow stonefruit, pear and honied aromas along with attractively lifted esters, building in depth in the glass. Medium in sweetness, lusciously juicy, up-front and bold fruit flavours of tropical fruits, pears and honey fill the palate. The fruit is enveloped by sweetness and bolstered by alcohol power and drive, providing a lush, warm mouthfeel. Candied flavours show with succulence and robustness, and lead to a dry, textured finish with stonefruit kernel notes and some acid raciness. This is a bold, robust and rich, medium-sweet Pinot Gris with some alcohol drive. Match with Middle Eastern and mildly spicy fare over the next 2-3 years. Cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.5% alc. and 15 g/L RS. 17.0-/20 Jan 2014 RRP $18.99
