Woollaston Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 16-Dec-2014
Bright, even, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues on rim. The nose is full in presence and vinosity, but restrained in expression, showing yellow and green stonefruit aromas, pungent gooseberry and herbal elements infused with subtle minerally lees notes. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a tight, elegantly presented core with stylishly restrained flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits and gooseberries. The wine has clarity and good linearity, with light textures, revealing complexing nuances of flint, minerals and smoke. There is plenty of energy and vibrancy, with fresh lacy acidity carrying the concentrated core to a dry, fine-textured, lingering finish with herb and mineral nuances. This is a tightly concentrated and textured Sauvignon Blanc with subtle fruit flavours complexed by lees and minerally flavours. Serve with herb-marinated white meat dishes over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from Burke’s Bank, Hope, stainless-steel indigenous yeast fermented with 20% in seasoned French oak to 13.0% alc. and 2 g/L RS., the wine aged on lees. Certified BioGro organic. 17.5+/20 Dec 2014 RRP $ 23.00
