Woollaston Nelson Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 18-Apr-2013
Dark, youthful, purple-hued ruby-red colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is very fresh and aromatic with bright, primary dark cherry fruit, violet florals and dark herbal nuances showing with good depth. Medium-bodied, bright dark cherry fruit with a subtle herb underlay is supported by fine, grainy tannins. A touch of reduction is noticeable. The acidity is restrained and the mouthfeel soft and rounded. The fruit richness builds on mid-palate and provides good linear drive and an even flow. The flavours lead to a soft-textured, accessible finish with moderate length. This is a freshly aromatic, soft-textured Pinot Noir with gentle dark cherry fruit flavours. Match with mushroom risotto, poultry and pork dishes over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit, 115, 777, 667, Abel and Pommard clones from the ‘Mahana’ vineyard given an ambient soak, indigenous yeast fermented with 10% whole bunch to 14.0% alc., the wine on skins 30 days and aged 11 months in 10% new French oak. Certified BioGro Organic. 17.5-/20 Apr 2013 RRP $35.00
