Woollaston Nelson Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 21-Nov-2013
Full, moderately deep, straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter on rim. This has a softly concentrated bouquet of ripe yellow stonefruits that unfolds aromatic and complex layers of flinty minerals and honey. Dry to taste, rich and luscious yellow stonefruit flavours are intermixed with honey and delicate nuances of exotic florals and minerals. The palate has weight and good presence, and the fruit is supported by fine, grainy textures which adds to the fulsome mouthfeel. The acidity is discreet, allowing the alcohol to show, and the flavours carry through to a generous, warm and structured finish. This is a complex layered Pinot Gris with weight and structure. Match with white meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP and indigenous yeast fermented in tank and 20% in old 500 L oak puncheons to 13.0% alc. and 6 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. Certified BioGro organic. 18.5/20 Nov 2013 RRP $23.00
