Woollaston ‘Mahana’ Nelson Riesling 2010

Riesling from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 27-Feb-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues, pale on edge. This has a full, but refined and well-interwoven bouquet of lime fruit, green apples and honeysuckle with nuances of toast and minerals. Medium in sweetness, attractively lush lime and honey flavours feature on an elegantly proportioned, seamlessly smooth palate. Fine underlying acidity provides liveliness and gentle poise, the wine balanced and flowing. The finish builds in richness, the sweetness a little more apparent, along with lovely nuances of honey and minerals. Made from Riesling fruit from vines undergoing conversion to organic certification, from the ‘Mahana' site, Upper Moutere, cool-fermented by native yeasts to 10.5% alc. and 45 g/L rs. The wine was given lees contact. Match this seamless and gently rich Riesling with Asian cuisine, or serve as an aperitif over the next 3-5+ years. 18.0/20 Feb 2012 RRP $28.00
