Wooing Tree Central Otago Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 04-Sep-2018
Deepish, dark ruby-red colour, lighter on the rim with a little garnet. The nose is full and voluminous with rich, deep aromas of dark-red cherry and berry fruit along with notes of dark plums and a subtle layering og dark herbs, spice nuances, liquorice and earth detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a complex amalgam of flavours with rich and ripe cherry and berry fruit melded with savoury plums, dark herbs, spice and liquorice notes and earth. The fruit forms a solid core, the richness balanced by fine, grainy tannin extraction and structure, with soft acidity. The flavours carry to a savoury finish of berries, plums, herbs and earth. This is a rich Pinot Noir with complex red berry fruit along with savoury plum, herb and earth notes on a well-structured palate. Match with wild duck and pork over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from the ‘Wooing Tree’ vineyard, clones 115, 777 and 667, hand-picked and fermented with 5% whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 29% new French oak. Winemaker: Peter Bartle. 18.5-/20 Sep 2018 RRP $48.00
