Wooing Tree ‘Beetlejuice’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 17-Oct-2011
A second label, named after the endangered Cromwell Chafer Beetle. Clones 115, 667, 777, 6 and 5 fruit given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 21% new French oak. Fullish, deep, bright ruby-red colour with purple hues, this has a tight and penetrating nose of ripe, dark cherry fruits, liquorice, leather and Asian spices. Medium-full bodied, the fruit appears tightly bound and somewhat restrained. There are linear dark cherry, earth and spice flavours along with a little cedary oak. The fruit sweetness is balanced by supple tannins and soft acidity, and leads to a dry finish with dark plum flavours. A tight and direct wine to match with poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. 16.5+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $28.00
