Wooing Tree ‘Beetle Juice’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 19-Jun-2014
Very full, near impenetrable black-red colour with youthful purple hues on rim. This has a full and solidly packed nose of ripe black berry fruit and plum aromas, with blackberry jam and lifted confectionary layers. Medium-full bodied, fulsome, up-front and bold fruit flavours of very ripe black and red plums reveal juicy and lush blackberry and boysenberry jam notes along with some savoury earth notes. This has good presence with supple, grainy textures and soft acidity underlining the fruit. The structure is bolstered by alcohol drive and power that carries the wine to a softly concentrated finish with restrained fruit flavours. This is an upfront, full and juicy, ripe Pinot Noir with sweet plum, jam and aromatic flavours. Match with Middle Eastern cuisine, and roasted red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit, clones 5, 6, 667 and Abel, given a cold soak and fermented with 2.5% whole clusters to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 24% new French oak. 18.0+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $28.00
