Shiraz from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 17-Oct-2022
Full, deep ruby-red with a dark purple hue, even colour throughout. The nose is full and broody, with dark plum and blackberry aromas interweaving eucalyptus and peppery spice. Full-bodied, dark plum and blackberry aromas are concentrated, adorned by black pepper, eucalyptus and spice. The palate is dense with dark-fruited flavours and power, supported by balanced acidity; smooth-grainy tannin softly coats the palate. This naturally expressed Shiraz with power shows ripe dark fruit and spice on a smooth tannin mouthfeel. Match with sticky ribs and grilled lamb over the next 3 years. Fruit sourced from 60% Barossa Valley, 40% Eden Valley, cool fermented, cold soaked for 5 days, fermented in 2-tonne open fermenters to 14.5% alc, aged in small and large format oak barrels for 9 months, 30% new oak. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Oct 2022 RRP $29.99
