Woods Crampton Shiraz 2018, Barossa

Shiraz from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 07-Oct-2020
Deep, rich purple with a ruby-black hue, lighter on edge shows a ruby shade. The nose is gently-full with underlying alcohol power, aromas of purple blossoms entwined with plum jam, brambles, herbs, black pepper and integrated oak spice elements. Full-bodied, the palate has a soft entry, nuances of plum jam, brambles are mellow, interwoven with liquorice, black pepper and oak spices. The fruit is ripe and full, presented elegantly with the subtleties of herbs and florals. Cool fermentation has created a soft and smooth-flowing palate, balanced mouthfeel with delicate, supple tannin linger to a satisfying, cushioning finish. This is satisfying Barossa Shiraz with aromas of plum jam and bramble, supple tannin, delicate herb and floral details on a well-balanced, smooth palate. Match with Mediterranean fare and lamb over the next 3 years. Cool fermented at 25 degrees to 14.5% alc, hand plunged, aged in small and large format oak barrels for 9 months, 30% new. 18.5/20 pts Oct 2020 RRP $24.99
