Woods Crampton ‘Cowham Vineyard’ Barossa Valley Graciano 201

Other Red from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 08-Mar-2016
Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Cowham’ vineyard, Light Pass, one-third indigenous yeast fermented with 50% whole bunch and two-thirds with 15% whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 15 months in seasoned large format 480 L oak. Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with black hues, a little lighter edged. The nose is elegant in proportion and tightly concentrated with penetrating aromas of spicy black fruits, fragrant black florals and minerals. The aromatics show finesse and intensity. Medium-bodied, the palate is fine in presentation with a rich, rounded core of ripe blackberry fruit with lifted black florals and complexing liquorice and mineral elements. The mouthfeel is harmonious and integrated with fine tannin extraction and fresh, lacy acid drive. The wine carries to a tightly bound, light fruited, fine-textured, dry finish. This is an elegant and refined, black-fruited and aromatic Graciano with a harmonious, fresh mouthfeel. Serve with lamb, beef and venison over the next 5+ years. 170 cases made. Winemakers: Nicholas Crampton and Aaron Woods. 17.5+/20 Mar 2016 RRP AUS$30.00
