Woods Crampton Barossa Valley Shiraz 2014

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 01-Dec-2015
Known as the ‘Blue Stripe’. 95% Shiraz and 5% Mataro, fruit from 90% Barossa Valley and 10% Eden Valley, fermented with 15% whole bunches to 13.6% alc. the wine aged 9 months in small and large oak, 30% new French with some American oak. Very dark, deep, black-red colour, near impenetrable. The nose is softly full with sweetly ripe and aromatic fruit notes of dark red berry fruits, plums, liquorice and vanilla-like and cedary oak all harmoniously presented. Medium-full bodied, full, plush and sweetly ripe flavours of dark plums and dark berry fruits are softly interwoven with liquorice, vanilla and cedary oak. The palate is framed by fine, grainy tannins providing a textured mouthfeel, with soft acidity lending a degree of roundness. The wine carries with good grip to a dry finish of plums and cedar. This is a full, plush, sweet plum and liquorice-flavoured Shiraz with sweet oak and a grainy structure. Match with barbecued, grilled and roasted red meats over the next 4+ years. 17.5+/20 Dec 2015 RRP $25.00
