Winter Soldier Winter Rosé Chapter 2: 2022, Marlborough

Rosé from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 30-Jun-2023
Bright, slightly hazy, medium burnt-orange colour. The nose is rich and composed, with aromas of red fruit, zesty spice, toasty oak and a hint of vanilla. Full-bodied, aromas of strawberry and cherry interweaved with rose petals and a suggestion of tropical nectar. Warm spices of orange zest, nutmeg and cinnamon linger on a slightly creamy mouthfeel alongside fine-textured phenolics. The wine is, as it suggested, a winter  Rosé, packed with red fruit and spices and an elegant and warming finish. Serve at room temperature and match with duck l'orange by the fire over the next 2-3 years. A blend of Clayver fermented Pinot Noir Rosé, skin-fermented Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, and carbonic macerated to skin-fermented Pinot Gris, aged on French oak and recovered Bourbon and Rum barrels. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) June 2023 RRP $32
